And last we have Wilson and all of his cousins from my side and his Emaw and Papa!

What a crazy cat!!!

So our cute cat Jeeves really enjoyed Christmas this year! He discovered that it is too much fun to climb the Christmas tree and that if he does it when I am feeding Wilson then he can stay up there for a while until I am done.

3 Weeks Old

I have been meaning to post this blog for that last couple of days, but the old Wilson gets the harder I find it to get stuff done. He is awake more and wants to be held all the time. So I never had a chance to blog about my last doctor's appointment before he was born. My doctor was at the hospital delivering a baby so I had to see a different doctor. This was November 13th. This doctor told me that he was about 7 pounds then (big for still having 2 weeks to go). I was not quite dilated to a one. This doctor thought that for sure I would at least a week late and she told me that they wouldn't induce me until I was at least a week late. She predicted that we would weigh at least 9 pounds. So needless to say I was a little sad at that point thinking that I wouldn't get to see my baby for at least 3 weeks. Well he sure proved her wrong didn't he. So if that doctor had been right Wilson would only be a couple of days old.

Labor and Delivery

It was two weeks ago today that all of this started so hopefully I can remember everything. Here goes...

At 6:30 am Monday November 17th I was trying to get some sleep on our couch when I woke up suddenly and felt that my pants were wet. It took me a second to wake up and think about what was happening. I jumped up and went to open that bedroom door to tell Ryan that I thought my water had broken and that he should probably get dressed. Once he woke up and realized what I was saying he asked me if I was sure. Now not ever having had my water break before I told him I didn't know. He asked me if I was having contractions and I said no. He wasn't too sure that my water had broken so he went to look it up online and I called the hospital to see what they thought. They told me they weren't sure but that I should come in and have it checked out.
Now keep in mind that this was two weeks before he was actually due so we had nothing done. In fact our goal was to have packed our bag for the hospital that weekend, but with the news from the doctor the Thursday before that I would probably be later Ryan and I never found time to pack the bag. So we hurried and pulled out the list of things that we needed to pack and started throwing them together. By this point it was a little after 7 and we were out the door. I told Ryan to just go to work and that if I was in labor that I would call him, if not then he could just stay at work. So we left in separate cars.
Once I got to the hospital I had to wait for someone to check me in and then they sent me to a room to change into a hospital gown and a nurse came and talked to me. She didn't end up check to see if my water had broken for a good 20 minutes. From everything that I was telling her she was convinced that it had broken so she was filling out the nessisary paperwork. Finally she checked and it had broken. So I called Ryan and asked him if he wanted to have a baby today. He said yes and was on his way to the hospital.
By about 8:30 or 8:45 am they moved me into my labor and delivery room. They let me have a little something to eat and then my doctor came and checked me out. At this point I was not even dialted to a one (which was what I was at the Thursday before). So they started me on petosin to induce my labor. Ryan and I called our famiy to let them know what was going on. I called my mom first who didn't believe me and then my dad to tell him that I was sorry that he wouldn't be born on his birthday (the 29th). At this point I could start to feel the contractions. They were more uncomfortable than anything, but I was fine. Ryan and I decided that he should go get the rest of the stuff that we needed since we would be in the hospital for the next couple of days. So I was left watching Arrested Development and just waiting. My mom came and visited me for a while which was nice it helped the time pass and then Ryan came back.
Every once in a while the nurses would come in to see how I was doing and to ask if I wanted my epidural yet. That was such a hard question. I didn't knwo when I should get it. People just said when it hurt bad enough to get it, but that I could get whenever I wanted. So I just didn't know. And since my water had broken they didn't want to check me because it might cause some bacterial so it was all a guessing game. I think it was about 4 o'clock when my contractions were really starting to hurt that I decided to get the epidural. I was so scared for it, but honestly it didn't hurt. They put this numbing shot in first and that hurt a little, but the actual shot didn't hurt at all. Then they checke me and found out that I was only a two (that kind of made me feel bad that I was in so much pain but only a two I am such a wimp). They decided to up the petocin. All of a sudden my heart rate dropped and so did the babies. So before I knew it the nurse had me laying flat on the bed and had oxygen on me and then I had this horrible ringing in my ears. I almost didn't know what was going on and before I knew it they fixed whatever was wrong. They told me that my IV wasn't giving me enough fluids and that somehow reacted with the epidural. It was a little scarry, but I was okay.
So after that it really was just a waiting game. Ryan and I played games and watched movies and my parents came a saw me. Once the epidural was in I was fine. I think it was probably close to 11 pm when Ryan and I decided to try and get some sleep. We turned on a season of friends and turned off the lights. I think I maybe slept an hour total that night. I was bored and uncomfortable and apprently so was Ryan (I thought he was asleep the whole time). And the epidural was making one of my legs really reall y numb and the other one not so much so I could feel the contractions. By 3 am the contractions were really bad and everytime I would have one I felt like I needed to push so I called the nurse in. She checked me and sure enought I was at a 10! She told me that I had to wait for an hour before I could begin pushing. So we waited. Then finally a little after 4 am the nurse came in and said it was time to push. She told Ryan and I that for first time babies that you usually have to push at least an hour. So I started pushing ( I honestly had no idea how had and exhausting pushing was. I was too busy worrying about everything else that I never thought now pushing). The nurse made a prediction of 6 am that he would be born. I guessed 5:55 am and Ryan guessed 5:25. After pushing for over an hour the nursed called my doctor in to come help and said that she would need to use the vacuum to help. I think the doctor got there at about 5:20 so Ryan's guess was out. So I pushed some more and at 5:58 am Wilson Riley was born. Ryan and I say that I won that guess!!!
It was the neatest think when he was born and they put him on my stomach. This little person that had grown inside of me for so long.
All together labor and delivery was so much easier then I had ever thought it would be. I am so grateful that Wilson is healthy and that things are going well. I am also grateful for a wonderful and supportive husband who was there with me the entire way. We love the addition to our family.

Wilson

Here are a few pictures of our little guy. This was just after he was born. So cute!!!

This is Wilson in his Utah hat his grandma got him. Everyone at the hospital loved his hat!!! In fact one night he had to go to the nursery and the Nurse told me there was another baby there that was wearing a BYU hat and the other nurses were commenting on how good the Utah baby was and that the BYU baby kept crying. I just told them was because the BYU baby was nervous about the game on Saturday, but Wilson knows we are going to do great!!!

This is me and Wilson (the only picture of me in the hospital that looked even remotely okay to post).

Wilson and his daddy. Ryan has been so wonderful with him. He takes such good care of the both of use. Wilson LOVES his daddy!!! And they look so much alike!

This is a good picture of all of his hair.

And we have baby!

After nearly a full 24 hours in labor, the young fella has arrived! He was kind of hesitant and slow to come down, kind of like a little kid that is scared to go down a waterslide but then finally the lifeguard pulls him down the waterslide as he tries his hardest to cling to it the whole way down. He just loved it so much in there and didn't want to come out. He weighed in at 7 lbs 3 oz and measured 21.5 inches. He has a pretty good head of dark brown hair and he is adorable! (He definitely gets the adorableness from his mom). We will have pictures of little Wilson Riley up soon enough.

Here He Comes!

This post is coming to you from the hospital. Mindi's water broke at 6:30 this morning and our little guy is on his way. By Tuesday morning, we should have a little baby! The only problem is we still haven't decided whether to name him Rastus Revenge Madongo Hettinger or Neptune Renegade Hettinger. I guess we better figure that out quick!

What can I say....He is just wonderful!

If you know anything about my husband Ryan it is that he is a Utah fan through and through. Ryan and I have season tickets the Utah football and last Thursday was the big Utah VS TCU blackout game. Ryan and I found ourselves in a bit of a dilemma. That night we also had our third trimester baby class (Ryan likes to refer to the class as baby catching class). I knew how important that game was to our season and to Ryan and I wanted to go also so I told Ryan we should skip class and go to the game. To my surprise Ryan told me that I could go to the game without him, but he was going to the class. He told me that he loved me and our baby more than the game and wanted to learn about the stuff that would be covered in class. Needless to say despite mocking from family members and friends we went to class oh and Utah beat TCU. Go UTES!!!

Top 5 things I love about being pregnant

5. Getting hugs from people. Lately I have noticed that people who would not normally give me a hug do. They always say they are so excited for me. I love hugs!!!

4. When I am holding one of my cats on my stomach the baby usually kicks them. Either the cats don't care or they can't feel it, but I love that he does it to them. I am excited to see how they react to having a baby around!

3. Eating ice cream whenever I want. I know it is a bad excuse and I will pay for it later, but I love love love eating ice cream and the baby seems to like it too!!!

2. Every time Ryan kisses me he touches my belly! It is the sweetest thing and I don't think Ryan even realizes that he does it.

1. Having Ryan talk to my belly. I am so excited to see Ryan hold our baby for the first time!

Long time no blog...

I have had several people talk to me recently about my lack of blogging so I thought I should get on the ball and start. I do want to apologize I don't know where my camera cord is so I can't post any pictures. Here is the update on the Hettinger household:
1- I am officially 33 weeks along today. That means only 7 weeks to go. Wow, I guess 7 weeks isn't that far away, however, it still feels like forever.
2- We ordered a measurement for our carpet yesterday. We are re carpeting our bedroom, the babies room and one more room down stairs. Exciting!!!
3- Ryan and I spent last Saturday with my dad and we painted our room. We painted 2 shades of sage. Light on the top and dark on the bottom. It looks sooooo good (well if you don't look to closely at our mistakes). Once I find my camera cord I will post a picture.
4- We officially don't have a name for our baby, but have begun to talk about it again! I hope we find one before he is born...
5- We have successfully moved our office from upstairs to down stairs to make room for the baby (by we I mean Ryan I didn't help at all)
6- I was called to the Young Woman's in our ward about a month ago. It has been fun so far and I am super excited to work with the girls!
7- I have my first baby shower this Saturday and I am super excited!!!

That is all I can think of right now. I promise to be more diligent in my blogging!

Sorry

I can't believe it has almost been a month since I last posted. I am sorry I am such a slacker. Here is the update:

- I went to the doctor yesterday. Everything is looking good. I am now 29 weeks along. CRAZY. To you that may seem like I have very little time left, but to me it still seems an eternity away.

- Ryan is so wonderful he has moved almost everything out of the old office and into the new one so we can start to put the nursery together.

- We have started to look for car seats. So if you have an suggestions on which one to buy please let me know.

I guess that is about it. Things are going really well. I promise to post some pictures as soon as I can find my camera cord.

goutah.blogspot.com

You might not know that my husband is actually a very creative writer among other things he also loves sports in particular Utah sports. I have created a blog for him to write whatever he wants (not that he couldn't on this, blog however he refuses). So honey here you go it is yours and I expect to see something tonight!!!

6 Months!!!

Today we are officially 6 months along! Looking back 5 months it seemed like we would never be this far a long yet here we are. It is crazy to think that in about 3 1/2 months we will be parents, but we are so excited. Our little baby is getting really active. He loves to kick and moved around especially when Ryan is talking and has his hand on my belly (he loves his daddy so much). Just in case you were wondering we still don't have a name for him so if you have any suggestions I am open. My morning sickness has started to get better. I just try and take it one day at a time. There however is one new development... Since this is my first pregnancy I haven't really known what to expect or what is normal so when I started to wake up in the mornings and be in pain I just thought that was part of being pregnant along with having to go pee a lot. Well apparently that isn't the case yesterday I found out that I have a urinary tract infection and that is why I have been in pain. It was actually a relief to me to know that this isn't normal. I look forward to feeling better in a few days.

Update on the baby: according to babycenter.com our baby is just over a pound now and about a foot long. Up top is a picture of what he looks like.

As hard as it has been to be so sick I am so thankful for the opportunity to be pregnant to have a baby grow inside me. I love feeling him kick and move around. I am so excited for the day that I actually get to hold him in my arms, but I am more excited to be able to see Ryan hold his son for the first time. We have truly been blessed our baby so far and look forward to so many new experiences.

The Zoo!!!

I have been wanting to go to the zoo all summer and finally we went last Friday! I took the whole day off and I got my massage and then pick Ryan up. We got a little lunch and headed for the zoo. One recommendation to anyone out there...I would not recommend getting a massage and then going to the zoo on a day that is expected to reach 99 degrees. I was exhausted by the end of the day. But it was so much fun!!!

I have the best husband ever!!!

For our anniversary this year (May 13th) Ryan bought me a gift certificate to a spa. Well since I have been so sick I hadn't wanted to use it. Well I took last Friday off of work and went to get my massage. It was called the pregnancy massage!!! Really it was a normal massage, but they has special pillows for my tummy. I was sooooooo nice! Here is my after picture. I look a little tired because I really wanted to take a nap after because I was so relaxed. It was so sweet of Ryan to know that I would just love that!!!

Chucks

What kind of shoe are you?

You Are Aurora! (A.K.A. Sleeping Beauty.)
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Thoughtful and loving. Authority figures probably have been sheltering you all of your life. Thankfully you're a very tranquil person who is content with what life has given you, but secretly you want to know how the outside world works.

Which Disney Princess Are You?

Is it November yet?

As I was driving to work today I was thinking about how I wish it was November already. I am so ready to be done being sick and I just want to hold my baby. That made me think about other people that I have known that when they were pregnant and they just wanted to be done and how I would think to myself that they should enjoy being pregnant. But now I totally understand and I am only 21 weeks along. And then I started to think about the fact that I am not ready. We don't have anything done for him (nursery, crib etc). So I should get working on that. I did a lot of thinking on my way to work and I decided that I need to enjoy this time that I have and I really need to work on getting ready for him to come. If anyone has any suggestions for me to pass the time let me know!!!

Not so funny vomit story

Warning.... You may not want to read this.

Since I consider my blog to be like my journal I thought I should document what is going on in my life right now. I'm pregnant and what comes along with that? Vomiting! I must admit my vomiting isn't that bad in comparison to some stories that I have heard, but it sure isn't fun. My worst vomiting experience was last Tuesday on my way to work. I was driving on Bangerter like I always do on my way to work when all of a sudden I could tell that I was going to throw up. It kept getting worse and worse and I was just praying that I would make it to work before I actually threw up. Well half way between two lights I figured out that I wasn't going to make it, unfortunately I was in the second lane and no one would let me over (plus there is no where to pull over on Bangerter so I was suck anyways). So I looked around my car for something to use when I spotted a piece of cloth. I picked it up and held it to my chin like a bowl and started throwing up as I drove (a stick no less). I finally made it over to the right lane and was able to turn off the road, but of course I was done throwing up by then. So I had to carry my throw up in my hand as I drove home. Needless to say I smelt like throw up for the rest of the day. I was hoping that this would be the last of the throw up, but if Saturday is any indication then I am not done.

A wedding!

My really good friend Shannon was married today to Michael! They have been dating I do believe for about 5 years!!! Ryan and I were lucky to be invited to their ceremony at St. Thomas Moore. Here are a few pictures I took at the ceremony. Shannon if you read this I want to say that it was beautiful and you looking amazing!!!

This is Shannon walking in with her Dad

I just barely missed their first kiss (slow camera).
Husband and Wife!

Girl or Boy?????

Well most of you who took part in our little survey guessed that we would be having a girl. I completely thought it was going to be a girl. Well I heard a little trick from my sister yesterday that whatever you think it is going to be it will actually be the opposite. Well she was....right. We are having a little boy!!!! Ryan and I are so excited. I really did want to have a boy first!!! Oh and our due date is the same...December 2nd.

We were also lucky to get a 3-D ultrasound at the hospital while we were getting our regular ultrasound. You can see it to the right of the post. You can see his little head and his hand right by his face.

Patriotic

I am just so excited for the 4th of July this year that I thought I would be patriotic with my background!

WOW!

I had Ryan take a picture of me last night so I could show mom the cute shirt she bought me and what do you know I actually look pregnant. That is so exciting for me. I look in the mirror everyday and I think I look fat, but I guess not. Isn't the the cutest shirt my mom bought me? She is so sweet!!!

Almost a Lawn!!!

Ryan and I have lived at our house for just over a year now. When we bought the house the yard was in really bad shape. We had no idea how much work it is to put a new lawn it, but we know now! It has taken us (Ryan really) the last 2 months to get this lawn ready. Of course we had help from our wonderful family and some really nice people in our ward and now we almost have a lawn. We came up a little short on the sod so hopefully we will get the rest in the next few day and be good to go. Here is how it looks now! To anyone who reads this and come to help or helped us with the prep, thank you so much. From the bottom of our hearts we are so grateful to have such a wonderful family and ward.
