A look back

It all started 6 years ago in February. My sorority had an activity with Ryan's fraternity. We were put in the same group to play a game called skit in a bag. We were give a bunch of random items and told to make a skit. Below is one of our attempts at using some of the items. Notice I am dressing another guy and Ryan is looking right at me! While this is actually not how it turned out. We ended up dressing Ryan like aunt Jamima and he was the teacher in a preschool class (I think). Ryan claims that we was interested in me, while I don't really remember much about the night. Needless to say nothing really came of it.
A few months later in April one of my good friends told me she and her boyfriend wanted to set me up with the kid that trained him on his mission. I was totally up for it and waited for the call. A few weeks later I finally got a call from Ryan. We went on our first date on April 30, 2004 (hence the name of the blog). We doubled with our friends. We played an interesting game of mini golf, went to dinner and then back to our friends house to play a weird card game. And that was it. We started dating.

I knew about two weeks in that I loved him and that we would eventually get married. On October 9th we were engaged! There are some of our engagements.

Then on Friday May 13, 2005 we were married in the Salt Lake Temple! Happy Anniversary!!!

We lived in student housing for almost 2 years while I got my Bachelors and Ryan got his Bachelors and Masters. In April of 2007 we moved into our home. Shortly after we got our two kitties Toby and Jeeves!
On November 18, 2008 we had our beautiful boy Wilson.

And here we are a year and half later. A happy little family!

I can't believe it has only been 5 years since we were married. It feels like I have known Ryan forever. I am the luckiest woman in the world to have such a wonderful husband. He is so so good to me. Thanks my love for the last 5 years. Here is to an eternity more!

Welcome Connor

Our dear friends had their little boy last Saturday. They names him Connor Terry. We finally got to see him last night. He is adorable. So sweet. He slept the whole time we were there. Congrats Keri and Seth he is beautiful!

Happy late mothers day to you all you mothers out there. What a great day it was, well weekend. Since most of mothers day is spent at church or with our mothers, Ryan decided that all weekend can be mothers day for me! Friday night we spend a quite evening at home (loved it) Saturday night we went shopping and to dinner! Sunday I got breakfast in bed and then we got to go meet our new nephew. Then it was off to church and then time with our moms. What a great weekend!

I can't put into words the joy I find in being a mother. How spending everyday with my little man is a treasure. And watching him grow and develope everyday is amazing. He is a sweet sweet boy that gets busier and busier everyday, but I love it. One of my favorite things is to watch Wilson with some random item all on his own and having a ball doing it. He is creative to say the least.

Wilson and Ryan and the light of my life and I can't imagine life without them.

Have I ever mention?

Have I ever mentioned my obsession with shoes? Okay maybe it isn't an obsession. I just love love love them. I love my shoes (especially buying new ones). I love getting new shoes for Ryan! Something I don't think I ever expected was how much I truly adore Wilson's shoes. I always try to match his cute shoes with his outfit. Well here is my ode to his shoes! Aren't they the cutest things you have ever seen?

Love Downeast!!!

I love downeast outfitters! They are the one store that well I love everything they have. They are so in style and really modest for the most part. Here are a few things that I am just loving!

I guess the only thing I wish I could change would be the price.... I guess I will just keep admiring from afar!

Did you remodel?

Nope! Okay maybe to you this doesn't look that great but to me. Well all I can say is WOW!!! I can't believed I lived with this kitchen looking like that for so long.

This project stared last August when Ryan went out of town for work and I decided that I should paint my cupboards. You can read the original post here. With the help of my wonderful father I was able to do that. Well from that post you can see they 100 times better, but it just wasn't done.

Well my wonderful friend that you have heard me speak of many times help me (well really her and her mom did it all) decorated my kitchen! I added a new table and some knobs that I got a killer deal on a well. See for yourself. It is a totally different room!

We have a few more things to do. One being to paint the vent above the stove black. Thanks to my dad, Heather, her wonderful mom (who made my curtains by the way. So so nice!) and my wonderful husband for putting up with my new desire to decorate our house. It is amazing the difference it makes to have a room decorated!

I couldn't love this room anymore!

Miracles never cease

Today was a busy day for us. First Wilson and I went to the blessing of my cousins baby Max and had to come straight home to go to our wart because Ryan had to speak. I have been a little apprehensive about it because it is all during Wilson's nap time and how hard it is for a 17 month old to make it through not just one but two sacrament meetings and the second one I would be taking care of him all by myself. On our way home Wilson fell asleep. I thought it was wonderful and that maybe he would get a good 20 minutes during the ride to our chapel. So we got there and he was still asleep. I took him out of the car seat...still asleep. Took him in the chapel...still asleep. We sat down at a bench and I thought that for sure he would wake up once it started, but no. He slept. Needless to say I thought he could wake up any minute but it never happened. Ryan stared it talk about addressing the missionary whose farewell it was (weird that Ryan was asked to speak also I know) and told him that miracles never cease because is 17 month old was sleeping in sacrament meeting which has truly never happened. Well he did wake up after he had slept for a total of an hour and a half and that was only because the little boy in the bench in front of us (who is only 5 days older than Wilson) hit is head several times and was crying. It turned out to be a much better day at church than I was anticipating!

Nothing to read

It seems like everyday I go to the computer to catch up on all my blogs and become immediately become disappointed that only one maybe two have updated their blogs. And it almost never fails that it then occurs to me that I haven't updated mine either. I guess I just expect more from all of you.

So here is my update:

I don't really have much to say. I have decorated my kitchen finally (and I really didn't do it my friend Heather did) I am just waiting for a few other things to come together and then I will post the pictures. Luckily I have a before picture from when I painted my cupboards. I am so excited it looks like a different kitchen!

Wilson is growing like a weed and is into a new phase which I don't mind saying I wish would pass. He has meltdowns I would every ten minutes. I think he has finally figured out what he wants and then he tells me and if I wont give it to him then the world ends and he is in a full on meltdown. So it is lots of fun at my house these days. But I still love my little man!

We finally (after three years) planted seed in our backyard! It was good timing if I do say so myself, we are getting lots of moisture that will hopefully make it grow! I have pictures of that too, but am waiting for any sign of green to post.

And last but certainly not least I can not wait for GLEE tonight!!!!!

What did he just say?

I thought I should update Wilson's list of words. It seems like he learns a new word each day and I am losing track so here they are:

Dada
Mama
No
Yes
Wow
I know
Thank you
Oh No
Uh Oh
Go
Let's go
Elmo (new today)
I love you (new today)
Dave (this is Jeeves I don't know how it came out to Dave, but it did)

It is the coolest things to watch him learn and grow so much everyday. I am so lucky!

Mockingjay

I am now officially number 801 in line to read this book. WOW! I don't know if I can't wait that until after it comes out. I guess we will see.

The Ball Popper

Ryan's sister and family gave Wilson the cute ball popping toy this last Christmas. He liked it from the beginning, but the last few weeks it has turned into his favorite toy. The way it works is it has 5 light weight balls that you put in it. They roll down a tube and then pop out the middle when you push a button (that also makes noise). One day Wilson got really upset and came crying out of his room were followed him to find that he had put other stuff in his popper and he was upset that it didn't pop out. After that I decided to document when he started putting in it. So here we go:

This pictures shows some cream a cat toy and a Binky

This picture shows his Tylenol, the cream again, two of the balls that go in it and one that is to another toy that is too heavy to pop out.
Here is the Tylenol and the cream againThis one has a frog finger puppet and a gecko key chain
This is a pedometer
These are nail clippers
This is two of the correct balls, two of the incorrect balls, a cat ball and socks
This is two incorrect balls a lego, a frog puppet and a cat toy
These are just a few of the items he had put in there. My favorite part about the whole process is when he is playing with his toys in the living room and all of a sudden he gets really excited and stands up and then trots off to his bedroom. This is all because he found something he wants to put in is popper. He then proceeds to do so followed by him crying and making me go make the stuff pop out. I love this cute guy! So creative!

Our Kitchen is looking different!

Well as promised here are some of the pictures from our house. I have been trying to decorate and well it takes time and money, but we are making progress. This is what out kitchen looked like. We have had that table since we got married. I think a friend of my dads donated it to us. Well it has served us well for 5 years, but it was time to pass it on to my cousin whose family was in need of a table.

And here is our new one! Okay so not centered in this picture but we love it! We had been looking for a while and decided on this table. And we also added that picture! Both from ikea!!!Here is what it actually looks like today in there. I added that table cloth to protect my new table from cats and Wilson. I am in the process of looking for a table cloth that actually matches. On the back wall you can also see the plates and plate holder that have been added to my kitchen to give it some color!
And the newest addition or change I should say are these pots that I spray painted to match the black theme!

What have I been up to?

Ryan's little sister (so weird to say since she is only 4 months younger than me) had a baby shower this last Saturday and I really wanted to make something for her so this is what I decided to do. I had seen lots of these baby wipe clutches done in my ward and decided to give it a try. Most of the ones I had seen done were the kind that just open in half, but I could only find ones that had the little part in the middle ( you will see what I mean) so my dear friend across the street actually had one like that done and let me borrow it. Here is is what I used as my pattern. Cute huh?
I got my supplies and purchased a glue gun!

And here is my final product. Cute huh? It makes me very excited for the next baby present. I hope you like this Keri cause that means you!

On to my next project that same day. Like I have said in other posts I am working on decorating my house. My good friend/decorator suggested that I spray paint these because they don't go at all with the theme I am trying to create. So thank you Kellie for these cute posts I hope you don't mind that they are now black!
Got me some spray paint and went to the porch...

And here they are! They match my kitchen much better!

Dentist

Today Wilson had his first trip to the dentist! I don't think that the fact that he woke up this morning upset helped anything, but it went well. As soon as the dentist came over he started to cry, but that gave the dentist a chance to look at his teeth. He said everything looked good and to keep brushing.

Me on the other hand. No cavities but, my gums are in bad shape. Why didn't anyone tell me having a baby would be so hard on my gums????? Well, pray that I will keep flossing and they will get better.

Ryan's turn in a few weeks we will see how he does.
