Okay so I know that I have been terrible at posting and haven't done it in two months. I have lots of pictures and things to post, but not the patience to do it. Still no baby, but I am hoping she comes anytime. Maybe then I will be more dedicated to posting.

This past week a friend from my ward asked me to do some maternity photos for her since this is her last child. I have never done maternity photos before so of course I jumped at the chance. I am still working on the right editing, but really wanted to post what I have done. So here are my favs.

Happy 3rd Birthday

Better later than never right?

Wilson turned 3 on November 18th! I honestly can't believe that my little baby is three years old. It was a fun day!

We had been asking Wilson what he wanted for a birthday for a while and he always told us he wanted Balloons. So we got him balloons the night before the surprise him in the morning.

He honestly loved it!

I'm not sure what I did with the pictures, but we went downtown and had lunch with Ryan!

Then after Ryan got home from work we opened presents!

Then we had some cake!

Saturday we took Wilson to Jungle Jim's. He had never been there before but as soon as we walked in the door he was so excited.

Of course most of the rides he didn't want to go on by himself and because I am pregnant I wasn't allowed, so Ryan being the trooper he is went on them with him!

The next day we celebrated his birthday with Ryan's family.

This was his first and favorite gift of the day. A tape measure!

Next was cake and ice cream. And no nothing is wrong with the computer this fire engine turned out pink. Not enough food coloring and no desire to start over so he got a pink one (which by the way he didn't mind at all).

Wilson had another birthday party with my family, but of course I forgot to take any pictures. This was the first birthday that he really understood what was going on and that made it so fun! Happy Birthday my big boy!

Thoughts on pregnancy

Wilson's birthday post is coming I just need to upload the picture.

Pregnancy I must admit is one of the hardest and longest 9 months of my life and because of everything that happened last year this pregnancy feels like it has lasted a year and nine months.

Lately I have been thinking about this a lot. Maybe it is because for the last month and a half someone in my house has been sick and inevitably I get sick as well which makes pregnancy harder. Or maybe it is that I am now 27 weeks and my body is tired and achy and ready to be done. Whatever the reason I find myself thinking about how I can't wait until February.

I have been trying to not only think of the hard things but also about the great things about pregnancy so here you have it.

1. I will get a baby out of all of this! I honestly can not wait to go through labor and see my sweet little girl. To get to hold her in my arms. I can't wait for Ryan to hold her and for Wilson to finally understand what we are talking about.
2. I love when Ryan comes home and puts his hands on my belly and gives me a kiss. And when he asks how all three of us are doing.
3. Feeling the baby move around. I love the reassurance it gives me that she is doing okay.

Now the hard stuff.

1. That people just don't understand how terrible I feel. I know that a lot of people have been pregnant and felt miserable, but honestly I think every pregnancy is different and different for every person. No one really knows how I feel.
2. I get so frustrated by people who are not sick during pregnancy. I know life has its challenges, but wow this isn't easy. Even worse is when people love pregnancy and openly tell you. It makes me feel terrible for feeling so terrible.
3. I hate that none of my clothes fit or are comfortable and that means maternity too. I honestly have never been more comfortable in a dress. I just want to be comfortable.
4. Honestly worrying that something might go wrong between now and delivery. I don't really have any reason to worry. Things went really smoothly with Wilson, but because of all the trouble we had last year I can't help but worry that there might be something waiting to happen.
5. I think worst of all I really hate that people are judging me for the things that I can't do. I had tried really hard to figure out my limits and the limits for my family and do what is best for all of us. Which inevitably means I have to give up some of the things I could do before. I wish people wouldn't pass judgement.

I must admit I really struggled if I should write this post, but it really was therapeutic. Even if no one reads it at least I understand a little more about how I feel.

I really am excited to welcome this new little spirit into our family and lives. I love her unconditionally already. I can't wait for February to get here, but I know it isn't my timeline so I will just keep plugging along and doing my best to take come of my body and hers as well.

Serving in the Young Women in my ward I had the opportunity to work really closely with the Bishop over the past year and his wife who was one of my teachers and my visiting teaching partner. I can truly say that I love both of them and their family! I was honored when they asked me to take their family pictures. We went up a canyon just in time to catch some of the colors of fall. One of my favorite photo shoots! Thanks to the Perkins for their amazing family and service to everyone around them!

Quiet Time

A few months ago Wilson stopped taking naps (just in time might I add for me to need naps because of pregnancy). So we started to do quiet time in him room. He can play, read books (really he just makes a big mess) for about an hour so I can lay down. There have been a few times (too few if you as me) where I come to get him out of his room and I will find him asleep. The first few he would actually crawl into bed like this picture.

Then it moved to more random places. Like this. (Please note the large mess surrounding him.)

And this is what I found today. Right in his doorway.

Like I said it doesn't happen often, but when it does man is it cute!

This morning I woke up and decided to try pictures again. I got a cute sweater for Wilson for a screaming deal at JC Penny and thought it would look great. After a few errands we were off. My friend and I have been talking about checking out daybreak again so that is where we headed.

Cute kid + cute scenery should = cute pictures right?

Well turns out your cute kid needs to smile at the camera too (something that use to happen but has since changed). These three were the best I could do. I see another photo shoot in Wilson's future!

Friday Night - Date Night

Since Ryan got a new job (don't think I have mentioned that) he has to ride trax to work. Wilson has been dying to ride on trax (he calls it the train).

Finally Friday I was feeling pretty good (didn't last) so we decided to take the train. We got on at about 1300 south and rode down to gateway to have dinner and see Ryan's new work.

Finally on the train and he is literally speechless. He loved it!

As soon as we got there he spotted the fountain and well we didn't hear the end of it during dinner until we took him to play. He loved it!

After the fountain we took a trip to Ryan's new office. Wilson thought it was so cool!

Then the trip home!

The whole trip was a success! It wont be Wilson's last trip on the train for sure!

A post a long time in the making

Not even sure where to start. A little over a year ago Ryan and I decided it was time to try to have another baby. Well to make a long story short, last year we had three miscarriages. I have debated for a year if I should post this or not, but I came to the conclusion that I should. Telling the world (or the short list of people who read my blog) helps me to feel more understood and maybe I could help someone else through the same struggles.

Two of the three happened on their own (which I am thankful for) and the other I had to have a D and C (while Ryan was out of town). Not a fun thing to go through, but was so blessed by family and friends during a hard time.

It was needless to say a hard year, but a year that made our family closer together. In January we were able to see a specialist who told us that as far as he could tell nothing was wrong with us, but bad timing between pregnancies and a 1 in 4 chance of everyone loosing a baby. He told us we needed to wait 6 months before trying again. And well, we are pregnant again!!!

We have had two ultrasounds so far and after the last one they told me we only had about a 1 to 2% chance of the same type of miscarriage. We are feeling really good about things. I am about 12 weeks along and sicker than a dog.

I have yet again been so blessed by family and friends to take care of me and my family during this hard time. Poor Wilson is bored out of his mind and doesn't really understand why I want to spend most of my time in bed. But people have been generous and have taken Wilson to their house to play. He loves it and it gives me time to rest. I am crossing my fingers that the sickness will get bearable soon.

I am so truly grateful to my Heavenly Father for the opportunity we have again to welcome another spirit into our family! I also know that sometimes we don't know or understand the trials we have to go through, but that they are his way of making us stronger people.

That being said February can not get here soon enough.

365 Grateful

Yesterday I was reading through a photography newsletter I get and came across a documentary that is being done called 365 Grateful. Essentially it was a photographer who was down on life and decided to do a project. She took one picture a day of something that she was grateful for and put it in a book with a caption. The idea took off and many people started to do it. Now she is making a documentary about it. You can ready more about it here.

Needless to say I loved the idea. I loved how she said it not only made her life happy and have more meaning, but she saw things in the world she had never seen before.

I know life is full of wonderful things that I don't always see. I want to take time out of everyday to find and recognize something I am grateful for.

I hope to have the strength and desire to do for a full year.

Here goes nothing.

Home Improvements

I thought about waiting to do this post until I had all the pictures, but then realized that I probably wouldn't do it. So here goes.

We have been doing some home improvements lastly that I wanted to document.

Yesterday for Memorial day Ryan and I put in a new kitchen sink! I don't know if it matters that we had the sink for a good two years sitting in our basements, but we did it! We still have a few kinks to work out, but it works and it looks good!

A few weeks ago with the help of some friends we took out this ugly bush in our front bed.

All these changes got me thinking about all the changes we have done to our house since moving in.

Picnic in the Park with Daddy

This last week Ryan was able to get Friday off as well and Monday for Memorial day. I wanted to make Friday a fun and special day for Wilson so after doing lots of yard work we decided to have a picnic in the park!So I packed us a big comfy blank and the random est lunch you have ever seen and we were off.

We headed to Veterans park in West Jordan. With several places to choose from we decided on the quietest place for our picnic.

It is a good thing my boys love PB and J cause that is all we had in the house...

After eating Ryan and I were able to cuddle up on the blanket while Wilson went off and played.

And of course we had to spend some time on the swings before leaving.

It was a beautiful day! We should picnic more often!

The Great Salt Lake

A friend of mine and I have been wanting to go to the Great Salt Lake and take pictures for a while. And Friday we decided to do it. It was an adventure from the beginning since we were not sure how to get there and especially not where we could take pictures. But we made it. Once we got there we found a good spot to park and walk out. After trenching though a swamp like area we made it to try land. Minus the harsh sunlight and dead birds that were scattered about. We had lots of fun and our boys had even more fun! I think I found a new sport for pictures! Anyone interested?

Cruise post 1

Ryan and I had the awesome opportunity to go on a cruise last week! We left on Monday for long beach and headed to Mexico. I have lots to share, but honestly I am tired and it seems like my house scratch the the whole world is still rocking like the ship. So I will just post the ones I have edited. I have to be honest... I am impressed with these ones.

I am jumping back on the wagon of exercising and eating right. After the forever long sickness that we had at my house and going to lunch with everyone last week I completely lost motivation to step back on the treadmill and after gaining 2.4 pounds the week before didn't help either. Well for some reason today I turned over a new leaf and am ready to start again. I only have 1 month left to complete my goal of loosing 20.

I stepped on the scale a little bit ago fulling expecting to have gained like 5 pounds, but was pleasantly surprised to find that I lost 2.4!

I have also exercised for the day!!!

Here is to keeping it up and making my goal!

It has been sick house over here. We have been fighting off a virus. This virus which has been around a good 6 or 7 weeks at my house has cause (combined) 5 ear infections, 2 cases of bronchitis, 2 throat infections and lots and lots of stuffy noses.
I was in the bathroom the other day blowing my nose when I look over to find Wilson staring at me. He gave me this look and said

"Are you getting your burgers (boogers)?"

Yesterday Wilson and I got to travel to Lehi to hang out with my Aunt Kellie and her grandson Max. I have been wanting to check out the Railroad museum there for an additional photo site. I had two perfect subjects to help me scout out the site. While lighting was really harsh I was still able to get some awesome pictures.

I don't feel good

Wilson has learned the phrase "I don't feel good" and while he often says it when he is fine, but this weekend it really was true. Friday night he stared to have this terrible cough and it only got worse from there.

This is a picture of him yesterday after a night of not sleeping he fell asleep on the couch while trying to eat a corn dog for lunch.

This is today after our doctor visit. Two ear infections, his tonsils are infected and he has bronchitis again. He really doesn't feel good.

Okay so it wasn't terrible it was delicious and that was the problem.

Also, Wilson slept all night in his new bed!

Moving up in the world

Raise your hand if you are a terrible blogger lately (visualize me with my hand raised). Life has gotten a little crazy lately (that is putting it mildly). I have gotten a new calling (Young Women President) It is busy season for Ryan at work which = him working at least 50 hours a week and all sicknesses to go around. Blogging has been last on my list that and I gain another 1.5 pounds and really didn't want to post it.

But today is a new day with fun stuff to post so here I am!

After a good week of Wilson regularly getting out of his crib we decided last night that today was the day for a new bed!

After eating breakfast this morning I asked Wilson if he wanted a new bed today and he seemed pretty excited about it.

We went downstairs and got all the stuff for his new bed and started to put it together. At this point Wilson was super excited (now knowing what I was talking about). Note to anyone putting together a toddler bed anytime soon. Don't do it alone with a two year old walking around.

After putting it together a few different times I finally got it!

Time to put it in his room. If you notice the crib is still there. This is to use as punishment if he doesn't stay in his bed.

As you can see he was so so excited for his new bed. He got all of his stuff and laid down. Too bad it was only 10 am or nap time might have gone a little easier.

When nap time rolled around I put him in bed and explained that if he talked or got out of bed he would have to sleep in his crib. He seemed okay with that and I closed the door. I got my computer and few projects that I needed to work on and sat by his door.

It only took three warnings and this is what I found!!!

I hope it just gets easier and easier!

In other news. I have been lucky enough to have several people ask me to take their pictures! I did a trade with a girl in my ward. I took her family pictures and she made me this super cute camera strap. Isn't it to die for? She even made a pocket for my lens cap. LOVE IT!!!

I did another job for a friend and she paid me! I really needed a new camera bag to fit all my stuff and here it is! Love this as well!

I just finished with some engagements for a friend and will be doing bridals and wedding day pictures. Can't tell you how excited I am and can't wait to post what I have been working on!

Last night as I was kissing Wilson good night before I went to bed I stood there for a minute leaning over his crib just watching his sleep peacefully. I started to think about this amazing little being. I stood there wondering how anyone could doubt that there is a high being after having a child of their own. How could you doubt that this little person came from our Heavenly Father.

I hope he is a happy person. I hope he is kind. And of course has a sense of humor like his dad. I hope he works hard in life and is able to do anything he puts his mind too. I hope he is a good friend. I hope he finds love and then one day can truly feel the love that I have for him in a child of his own.

I hope that I can be a good mother to him. I hope I can teach everything he needs me too. I hope I can be a good example to him. I hope he will always know I love him. I hope I can make our home a haven away from the world for him. A place he can feel safe and love and feel the spirit.

I have so many hopes and dreams for him. Most of all I hope that he will know that he is a child of his Heavenly Father. Because knowing that makes all the difference in the world.

Ryan and I went out with some of our really good friends tonight.
We had hamburgers and fries
and onion rings.
To top that off I also ate some cookies.
I feel super guilty.
How am I going to loose weight eating like that?

I decided today and I need to give
up this idea of who it is I want to be like
and just be me.
Back to those darn blogs.
I need to stop reading them.

So feeling so good after my weigh in yesterday
today I took a trip to Ross to see about getting a new shirt
That is one sure fire to go back to not feeling good about how you look
try on clothes.
It is however more motivation to keep working out.

Wilson has this stuffed toy Monkey we call George that he has been carrying around

A post about nothing

Here I am at 8:30 at night wanting to post something on my blog,
but I have nothing.
I don't know how many can relate, but
I have been so bored today and for the last month that I have taken
to looking at crafting blogs.
They are so interesting.
These woman are amazing.
What they do
what they come up with.
I want to much to be wonder woman.
But alas I am not.
Sometimes I have to remind myself of that.
While I could stand to a lot of things better
I have come to terms with the fact that I will never be like them
and that is okay.
I really should ban myself from looking at those blogs,
but they are so interesting.

So anyhow, I have come to this conclusion
besides all of the many other goal I have made for myself this year
a new one I made today was that I would like to blog more about
ME!
I have lots of things to say other than things about
my adorable son.
I have well uh stuff going on in my life.
I may not be super exciting and hey I don't even know if anyone wants
to read about it, but I am going to post it.

Anyone who has ever had a two year old will understand this story. Getting Wilson to agree to go to bed has been a challenge lately. We have found though that if we let him pick something to take to bed he is happy and luckily he will still fall asleep rather quickly. Often his item changes from day to day. Sometimes it is a car or a little toy or a book (although not any more since he started to rip them a part), but you get the picture. Well for Christmas Wilson got a new Elmo toothbrush! To say that he likes it would be a huge understatement. Well he has started to take it to bed with him. Here is how we found him the other night...

Big Mistake

Recently I was over at my friend Erin's house helping her go through some clothes her sister had given her when I came across a BYU t-shirt. Not wanting to have it near my child I threw it towards her and said this one was defiantly for her (she is a big BYU fan). She threw it back to me and dared me to put it on Wilson and see what Ryan had to say. Well I was up for the challenge. I honestly wanted to see his reaction and get a big kick out of it. Wilson and I headed home put his "new" shirt on. When I could hear Ryan coming up the walk I sent Wilson to the top of the stairs to see what would happen. Ryan opened the door greeted up and then looked confused. He then asked me what Wilson was wearing. I told him the story and said I wanted to see his reaction. He then said something to the effect of me having poor decision making skills. Went right up to Wilson took the shirt off and threw it in the corner! He apparently didn't think it was funny, but I got a good laugh out of it! I think the funniest part it that it is still in the corner. I really need to get that back to Erin.

I love a Piano

I love pianos. Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to play. I was lucky enough to be able take take lessons when I was young and throughout my childhood. Although I must admit that I didn't practice as much as I should have and am still not very good. I still love it dearly. When I was young I was lucky enough to be able to learn on the piano my mom had growing up. And ever luckier I was given that same piano. Isn't it beautiful?

I have so many dear memories about this piano!
The years I spent practicing (and not practicing).
Playing hymns for my mom while she cleaned the kitchen.
Holding my nephews on my lap with their hands on mine while I played.
The first time I played it after they moved it to my house.

But I think recently the memory most dear has been Wilson playing it. One day he decided that he wanted to sing songs. I opened it up and he sat at the bench started hitting keys and singing "Jingle bells, Jingle bells". And I think almost everyday since he has asked to "sing songs". Most days he tell me I need to play and give me the top 5 keys and asks me to the play the "daddy song" from the children's song book! I look forward the many memories this piano and I have in the future!

Out with the old in with the new! Right? Or bring on the new year! Maybe just hoping for the best. Whatever it should be I am excited for a new year!

This last year has had it ups and downs (way more downs than I wanted), but just trying to move forward. I am so looking forward to 2011 and hoping it will be better!

The holidays were so much fun! We got to spend lots of time with family, friends but best of all each other!

The season also brought a lot of opportunities for me to practice my photography! Here are a few that I did for my family!

As is tradition in my family
Wilson, Ryan and I set up our Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving.
Our little boy is such a big help.

After getting tired of getting yelled out about things he shouldn't touch
Wilson decided to make trouble in the kitchen.
This is what we found...

After getting the whole tree set up I had Ryan give Wilson a bath
while I put on the lights and some of the ornaments.

Then the fun began!

My favorite part of the evening happened when Wilson found a small bag

Last Tuesday night in Young Woman's we had our YW in excellence program. We were lucky to have accomplished concert pianist Lenora Brown speak to us. She talked to us about her life both in the gospel and with the piano. At the end of speaking to us she gave us two pieces of advice. 1) Make good choices. 2) Find something you truly love.

The first thing that came to mind is my photography. I have always, always loved it, but lately I have been lucky that several people have asked for me to take their pictures! These opportunities have helped my creativity and learn new things. Here is a sample of what I have been doing.

I have had a few people say that they would like me to take their pictures. I would honestly love to. Just give me a call and we can set something up!

Halloween

This year for Halloween Wilson was a Monkey! And he loved his costume.....well he put up with it....well I bribed/tricked him and sometimes he was okay with it.

The first day in our Halloween marathon was our wards trunk or treat on Tuesday. This year I was in charge and well lets just say that is another story for another day and boy am I glad it is over!

Friday was our big day. We had lots of places to go and people to see. We took Ryan to work in the morning. Then went straight home pick up our friends and went for a photo shoot (because we needed to fit one more thing in). Not my best shoot to date, but I wanted a really good photo of Wilson in his costume and I am happy with what I got.

Next on our list was a trip to go see my dad at his work. It was about noon at this time and Wilson was already worn out so he took a little nap on our way.

Next up we went to see my mom or as Wilson calls her "Emaw". He had a good time at her work finding all of her hidden candy stashes and slamming her office door!

Next up we went to Daddy's work. Can you tell he was exhausted by this point? He quickly woke up when the trick or treating started!

After daddy's work we got to go home and take a little nap and then it was on to a party at my parents house. This is a picture of all the grandkids and the pumpkins we carved!

Saturday morning we went over and visited my grandpa and his wife Mickey.

And our last stop was at Ryan's parents house!

Grandma and Grandpa were so nice they put out their basket of candy and let Wilson go to town! The funny thing was that instead of putting it in his bag he handed it out to everyone there.

It was a fun Halloween. Ryan and I made sure we thoroughly enjoyed our last not having to go trick or treating!

One of the sweetest moments as a parent is to see that they do learn from you.

Ryan and I have made a conscious effort to read the scriptures (children's version) and say prayer every night before bed. One night last week or so we started to notice that Wilson would ask for him book before we said anything then would fold his arms during the prayer.

Lunch with Emaw and Papa

Today my dad invited us to go to have lunch at a park! We picked up some delicious sandwiches and headed to the duck park where we met my mom! Wilson enjoyed his own root beer and sharing his Emaw's (my mom) sandwich (he didn't care for mine or my dad's). Then we played on the playground and fed the ducks! Girls Camp

Last week I was able to go to girls camp! LOVED IT!!! It took me back to my own girls camp days and make me miss spending that time with my sisters. I love love love my girls and the leaders and loved the time we got together. I also loved that some of my girls humored me and let me take pictures of them.

Splash Park

I had heard from some people in our ward about a splash park in Riverton and knowing how much my boy loves water we just had to check it out! Can we say awesome? This was perfect for Wilson. Water and fun! We will be back for sure!

So pretty much as far back as I can remember I have been interested in photography. I can remember when I was about 8 and I got a camera and film for my birthday I think I took a whole role of film on my cat. I have always loved creating images (especially of people). Well for a little while in school I majored in photography, but about a year and a half in a decided it wasn't where I could make money and changed. Well to make a long story short I have decided to get back into. It really is a passion of mine. So here I go. Here are some of the shots I have been working on lately.

This is my way cute nephew Alex. His sweet parents let me come take pictures of him. I wont lie it was hard shooting an infant, but I got some good ones.

This is McKenzie. Her sweet mother asked me to take some photos of her and her family. This is by far one of my favorites. I am slowly learning photoshop and it is paying off!

This is our best friends baby Connor. He is so cute. His parents asked me to take photos of him. Way fun!

This is my niece Jessica. Her mom asked me to take pictures of her for her baptism announcements.

Well I will keep working on it. I find that it is hard to learn new things these days, but slowly my brain is picking things up. Recently Wilson has found a love of stuffed animals! One day he started to carry around a little bear which slowly increased to every stuffed animal he owns now has to be in his crib with him. Well....almost all. There are two in particular that for some reason he doesn't like and after every nap and every morning we find these two on the floor. We have no idea why he doesn't like them, but apparently they don't belong in his crib.

4th of July weekend

Our weekend began with Ryan taking Friday off! He also had Monday off so we had a long and fun weekend ahead of us! Ryan's dad also had Friday off and asked if he could watch Wilson for couple of hours so of course we said "YES" so Ryan and I got to spend the afternoon alone! We got some lunch and come home and worked on a puzzle and took a nice nap together! Then we picked up Wilson and headed to the fireworks at Granite High School.

Wilson enjoyed sitting on Papa's lap during the fireworks!

Wilson thought they were really cool, however not cool enough to stay awake the whole time. He crashed and crashed good!

Saturday we had a nice relaxing morning and then headed to the swimming pool with Ryan's family. It was a bit cold, but Wilson had lots of fun!

After swimming we headed to their house for lots of games and then we picked up some dinner. Ryan and I headed to In n Out. Here are few pictures of us waiting patiently for our food.

Sunday we had a birthday party and more games. Monday morning 3 of Ryan's sisters were nice enough to let me take some pictures of them up at the U. Here are a few. These first ones are of Sarah.

I am sure my son isn't unique is his love for electronics, especially cell phones. From a very early age he has loved to play with them, hold them, push their buttons. But lately it has been taken to a whole new level. First it was that he would pick up a phone hold it to his ear and say "hello". So cute, I can't even tell you! Now even more advanced is that it doesn't have to be a phone. At first he used things that were well not phones but made a little sense like remotes and i pods. But it gets even better here are a list of the things he has used as a phone:

banana
hot wheels cars (a favorite of his)
hand held games (solitaire and free cell)
shoes
camera
cookie
pedometer
macaroni noodle

Once in a while I catch him with something to his ear and he is having a conversation. Usually walking around not looking at anything (picture someone talking on the phone and you get the picture). The first time it happened I was in the bathroom doing my hair and he started talking so I turned around to talk to him and he was "on the phone" talking to someone else!

Swimming Pool!

I have recently learned the art and passion of yard selling. My good friend goes almost every week in the summer and I tagged along with her last week. SO much fun. You can find stuff for so cheap! And it is so fun to see what you can find. This week I went by myself and I found this swimming pool for Wilson for $2! I think they are like $10 in the store. So today we tried it out. Wilson LOVED it! Here's to finding new and cool stuff next time!

No Pictures

Yesterday was quite an eventful day at our house. As I was in the bathroom doing my hair and Ryan was downstairs in the shower I noticed that Wilson was being really quite. I went out in the living room to find him drawing with a pen on my couch and on his shirt. So frantically I tried to get the ink out and was excited when it came out immediately with hair spray! I feel like I have been lucky so far that there have been no big accidents as far as Wilson's curiosity is concerned and when the ink came out right away I feel extremely lucky.

Well my luck wouldn't last long. About a half an hour later I was back the bathroom this time I decided I wanted to change my toenail polish. I had my color picked out and was taking off the old stuff when Wilson found the new one and took it to the other room. Ryan attempted to take it away by me (being so naive) said that he couldn't get it open and could play with it until I needed it. Well about 2 seconds later I hear a loud "NO" come from the other room. Turns out Wilson is stronger than I thought and had opened it and poured it out on the carpet! Well after working on it for a while I still have a pink stain on my carpet... here is to hoping a little more work will get it out.

Knowing that today would be hot and in the 90's I decided that Wilson (knowing how much he loves water) would enjoy running through the sprinkler out front. And boy was I right. Right from the moment he got wet it was loads of fun. He would run in and get wet and cold and then run back out! Only to then run back in. This fun only lasted about 30 minutes but it cooled him down and I got some picture fun in for myself!

Once in a lifetime?

Today I was at my aunts house outside when a bird flew over my head and yes you guess it pooped on my head. So gross! It got me thinking how many people can really say that has happened to them? Which lead to me to think about the other things that have happened in my life that are once in a lifetime things.

So here is my list (in no particular order):

1. Had bird poop land on my head
2. Been robbed twice at work (both financial institutes)
3. Fell and knocked out most of my top teeth and had to wear dentures for a few years
4. Had my ear drums burst 3 times
5. Was baptized in the tabernacle on temple square
6. I shook President Monson's hand

Okay so my list isn't very long. I am going to keep working on it. If any of you have experienced the same things leave me a comment and tell me about it!

Thursdays with the Hettingers

Bet you wish you were part of our family! Tonight we decided after dinner to go out front and give Wilson a Popsicle and see what happened! My boy loves his sugar and sugar on a stick was right up his alley!

So busy

Do you ever feel like your life gets so busy you don't have time to blog then by the time it slows down you have so much to blog about you just don't? Well that is me right now. So many things have happened in the last few weeks I don't even know where to start. So I guess I will start with a recap and post pictures later.

I guess it has been two weeks now Ryan took the day after memorial day off and we took Wilson to the zoo! It was a little rainy but nice. I had been looking forward to taking him to the zoo for the past few months thinking he would be in heaven with all the cool animals around. Well I guess it was a little early for that. Don't get me wrong we had a good time and Wilson had fun, but not the kind of fun I thought he would have. He like the animals okay, but I think he was a little unimpressed with them. Because we have two cats at home that he adores I thought for sure the tigers would be his favorite. I think he just thought they were just like his cats only these ones he couldn't even chase around. So the highlight of the trip for Wilson was a little rabbit in the small animals building that was sitting right by the glass. All in all it was a way fun trip. I will post pictures soon!

Last week I spent the first half of the week getting ready for Youth Conference and the last half being there. I had so so so much fun. We went to Wyoming (which is a state I vote to never live in). We saw some of the sites that the pioneers crosses. Way cool experience! My wonderful parents watched Wilson the first day I was off and Ryan took the next too. Thanks to all who helped I couldn't have had a good time if I didn't know he was in such good hands. For sure a post to follow!

Saturday was my Birthday! 27 can you believe it? I can't...I feel like I am about 20. Well my cute young woman and leader surprised me as we were packing up with presents! Including a feather boa, sunglasses that said Happy Birthday on them, a crown and a birthday hat! I LOVED IT! But I have to admit the best part of my birthday was getting to come home to Ryan and Wilson (even if Wilson wasn't happy to see me)!

I woke up Monday morning to find my cute husband still in bed with me. I asked him jokingly if he was taking the day off to have fun with me and to my surprise he said yes. He had gotten the day off weeks before because he knew that I wouldn't have had much of a birthday to that point because of youth conference and church. So he took the day off!!! He even got the key to his sisters pool so we could go swimming if the weather was good. I was so surprised and happy. We had a fantastic day! Ryan started our day off by getting us breakfast at McDonald's. We packed a lunch and ate in the car because we ended up going swimming but the water was freezing cold so we left quickly. I got to take a long nap and have dinner at in n out. It was a fantastic day. I have the BEST husband!

And now I am caught up. I will post pictures of everything as soon as I download them. As for now I am going to enjoy the last few minutes of Wilson's nap.

My dear friends who just had a baby asked me to come and take pictures of their little one. I was totally honored and super excited. I had so many ideas of what to do and couldn't wait to get there. I had so much fun with Connor, he is so small and such a sweet baby. He was a wonderful subject and so alert.

While I will have to admit that it didn't go as well as I had hoped we did get some good shots and I hope his parents are happy. I hope to be able to keep practicing and one day be able to get the results that I hope for. Here are a few of my favorites!

I never really believed people when they told me that kids just get more fun as they get older. I mean what can be more fun that sitting and holding a new born? Well as Wilson continues to get old I am in total agreement. As he grows and learns more and develops more of his personality it is beyond fun to watch. Everyday he learns more and more words and it seems like every time I turn around he is doing something new and fun (at least it is always fun for him). I thought I would share some videos of some of the fun he is having as well as some pictures.

A look back

It all started 6 years ago in February. My sorority had an activity with Ryan's fraternity. We were put in the same group to play a game called skit in a bag. We were give a bunch of random items and told to make a skit. Below is one of our attempts at using some of the items. Notice I am dressing another guy and Ryan is looking right at me! While this is actually not how it turned out. We ended up dressing Ryan like aunt Jamima and he was the teacher in a preschool class (I think). Ryan claims that we was interested in me, while I don't really remember much about the night. Needless to say nothing really came of it.
A few months later in April one of my good friends told me she and her boyfriend wanted to set me up with the kid that trained him on his mission. I was totally up for it and waited for the call. A few weeks later I finally got a call from Ryan. We went on our first date on April 30, 2004 (hence the name of the blog). We doubled with our friends. We played an interesting game of mini golf, went to dinner and then back to our friends house to play a weird card game. And that was it. We started dating.

I knew about two weeks in that I loved him and that we would eventually get married. On October 9th we were engaged! There are some of our engagements.

Then on Friday May 13, 2005 we were married in the Salt Lake Temple! Happy Anniversary!!!

We lived in student housing for almost 2 years while I got my Bachelors and Ryan got his Bachelors and Masters. In April of 2007 we moved into our home. Shortly after we got our two kitties Toby and Jeeves!
On November 18, 2008 we had our beautiful boy Wilson.

And here we are a year and half later. A happy little family!

I can't believe it has only been 5 years since we were married. It feels like I have known Ryan forever. I am the luckiest woman in the world to have such a wonderful husband. He is so so good to me. Thanks my love for the last 5 years. Here is to an eternity more!

Our dear friends had their little boy last Saturday. They names him Connor Terry. We finally got to see him last night. He is adorable. So sweet. He slept the whole time we were there. Congrats Keri and Seth he is beautiful!

Happy late mothers day to you all you mothers out there. What a great day it was, well weekend. Since most of mothers day is spent at church or with our mothers, Ryan decided that all weekend can be mothers day for me! Friday night we spend a quite evening at home (loved it) Saturday night we went shopping and to dinner! Sunday I got breakfast in bed and then we got to go meet our new nephew. Then it was off to church and then time with our moms. What a great weekend!

I can't put into words the joy I find in being a mother. How spending everyday with my little man is a treasure. And watching him grow and develope everyday is amazing. He is a sweet sweet boy that gets busier and busier everyday, but I love it. One of my favorite things is to watch Wilson with some random item all on his own and having a ball doing it. He is creative to say the least.

Wilson and Ryan and the light of my life and I can't imagine life without them.

Have I ever mentioned my obsession with shoes? Okay maybe it isn't an obsession. I just love love love them. I love my shoes (especially buying new ones). I love getting new shoes for Ryan! Something I don't think I ever expected was how much I truly adore Wilson's shoes. I always try to match his cute shoes with his outfit. Well here is my ode to his shoes! Aren't they the cutest things you have ever seen?
